Public invited to comment on O’Fallon’s 2015 Action Plan for community block grants

O’Fallon’s 30-day comment period regarding the city’s Fiscal Year 2015 Annual Action Plan for the Community Development Block Grant Program will end on Dec. 5. The plans can be viewed at the O’Fallon City Hall, located at 100 North Main Street, and the public can submit comments to jhawkins@ofallon.mo.us. The city held a public hearing on Nov. 5 concerning the action plan, but O’Fallon Director of Public Relations Thomas Drabelle said the city received no comments from residents during the hearing. Westminster Christian Academy, CBC, Lafayette will play for district football championships

Three West County teams have a chance to win a district football championship. Lafayette plays at Kirkwood and CBC hosts Hazelwood Central. Both games are at 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 7). The Westminster Christian Academy Wildcats(10-1) host St. Francis Borgia (10-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday. The lone loss for the Knights came to the Wildcats on Oct. 17. Rec-Plex leisure pool closed Nov. 10-19

The St. Peters Rec-Plex will close the Leisure Pool in the Natatorium from Nov. 10-19 in order to install a new waterslide. The Leisure Pool will open back up on Nov. 20, and the new waterslide should be ready for use by Nov. 28. The new waterslide will be similar in design to the old one, which needed to be replaced due to wear and tear after 20 years of use. Caring and Sharing: Warner’s Warm-Up, Toys for Tots

The Ballwin Police Department is a donation location for both “Toys for Tots” and “Warner’s Warm-Up.” Collection boxes are located in the front lobby of the police station in Vlasis Park at 300 Park Drive. Items may be dropped off any time, as the lobby is open 24/7. “Toys for Tots” is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve Unit that strives to collect and distribute new toys to unprivileged children in the area. St. Peters announces holiday hours for Veterans Day

St. Peters officials have announced that city hall offices and the Cultural Arts Centre will be closed for business on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in recognition of Veterans Day. The St. Peters Rec-Plex will be open normal hours on Nov. 11; however, the administrative offices will be closed. The St. Peters Municipal Court also will be closed on Nov. 11. Wentzville teacher wins Milken award

Jessica Karll, a third-grade teacher at Discovery Ridge Elementary School in O’Fallon, has been named the winner of a Milken Educator Award. The Milken Educator Awards are given each year to outstanding K-12 teachers, principals and specialists who are furthering excellence in education. Missouri has been participating in the Milken Awards since 1996. Since then, a total of 45 Missouri educators have been honored with the Milken prize.
