  When John Burroughs running back John Moten is doing his thing between the hashmarks, it can be a very long and frustrating day for an opposing defense. Rembold OT field goal lifts Parkway Central over Parkway North

  Parkway Central and Parkway North fans had to wait a day for their teams to hit the gridiron against each other but oh the wait was so worth it. The Colts and Vikings battled back and forth for 48 minutes and it took overtime to decide the contest between the two longtime Parkway District rivals. Severe weather postpones Parkway Central at Parkway North

  The national anthem had just been played at Parkway North and just a few minutes later, spectators, players and coaches were asked to evacuate the stadium on Friday night. Lightning and severe weather caused a two-hour delay and ultimately the football game between Parkway Central and Parkway North was postponed. The game has been moved to today with a 11 a.m. kickoff. Marquette Relays provide teams with first big test of the boys swimming season

The first big swim test of the fall campaign is annual Marquette Relays. Parkway West returns to defend its championship in the strong 12-team field. The event begins at noon Saturday (Sept. 6). Other teams competing in the relays are Parkway Central, Parkway South, Lafayette, Chaminade, Columbia Hickman, Battle, Rock Bridge, St. Louis University High, Fort Zumwalt West, Cape Girardeau Central and the host Mustangs. Youth hockey

Several local players have made the 22-man USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program for the 2014-15 season. The players, members of the Under-17 and Under-18 squads, will live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and attend school there. The U-17 squad will play in the United States Hockey League, the top junior league in the United States. It will also compete in three international tournaments, including the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. St. Louis area players on the team include forward and Wisconsin recruit Trent Frederic and defenseman and Michigan recruit Luke Martin. Lindenwood gives Ross 100th win with opening victory at Washburn

  On Thursday night (Sept. 4) the Lindenwood football Lions gave head coach Patrick Ross a double present with a season-opening 44-38 victory over Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. Lindenwood moves to 1-0  (1-0 in the Midwest Intercollegiate Athletic Association) to start the season, and in addition the win was the 100th in Ross coaching career. Rascals clinch West Division with season-ending win over Florence

A week ago the River City Rascals clinched a playoff berth and on Thursday night the Rascals clinched the Frontier League West Division title thanks to a 9-2 pounding of the Florence Freedom in Florence, Ky. The division crown is the third title in River City history. River City came out blazing as the Rascals pushed across three runs in the top of the first inning to put Florence in a rough spot.
