There was hardly anything subtle about the Ballwin 611 Post senior legion baseball club’s approach at the plate in its zone 4 opener against Jackson Post 158.   If the Eureka Post 177 senior legion baseball club is going to make it back to the Missouri Legion State Tournament this summer, it will have the be the hard way. Red-hot Ballwin Post 611 ready for Zone 4 Legion tournament

The postseason drought is over for Ballwin Post 611. Ballwin scored a 9-8 victory over Eureka Post 177 to win the District 10 Tournament and earn a spot in the Zone 4 Tournament in Festus.Ballwin improved to 30-5 overall after going undefeated at 14-0 in district regular season action and 4-0 in the postseason tourney. Eureka Post 177 set to begin defense of Zone 4 Legion championship

A year ago, Eureka Post 177 was riding high heading into the Zone 4 Tournament. Eureka swept through District 10, winning the regular season and postseason tournament titles.Post 177 went on to win the Zone 4 tourney and reach the state tournament where the squad finished second. Local golfers compete in annual Optimist International Junior Golf Championships

Seven local golfers are among the more than 500 of golf’s top young players who will compete in the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The tournament will bring together some of the world’s most talented young competitors, many of whom have the potential to become leading collegiate and professional golfers in the future. Women’s Missouri Mid Amateur Championship begins this week at Greenbriar

The fourth Missouri Women’s Golf Association Mid Amateur Championship begins Thursday (July 24)  at the beautiful Greenbriar Hills Country Club in Kirkwood and two-time defending champion Mindy Coyle will try to make it three in a row. The women will  have a practice round Wednesday before beginning the 36-hole competition. Greenbriar Hills will once again become the battleground for an MWGA title.  The club served as a previous host of the 1969 and 1994 Women’s Amateur Championships. Incarnate Word senior named to U.S. Youth Olympic Basketball team

Incarnate Word Academy senior Napheesa Collier will be going to China next month. Collier, who committed to the University of Connecticut earlier this spring, has been named to the 2014 U.S. Youth Olympic Women’s Basketball Team. Hi-NRG Gymnastix Acrobatic team qualifies for 2014 Gymnastics Championships

The Hi-NRG Gymnastix Acrobatic team has qualified for the 2014 USA Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. Although Hi-NRG, located in Chesterfield, is only in their second year of competition, coach Tony Palmasanohas developed a strong competitive team with gymnasts ranging in age from 6 to 22. They all have qualified for and are headed to the U.S. National Championships. The North squad scored a 1-0 victory in the 30th annual Missouri Athletic Club Girls Senior All-Star Game at the St. Louis Soccer Park. The squad’s MVP was Brigitte Reilly, of Duchesne.
