Francis Howell wrestling prevails to claim elusive district championship

After the disappointment of five second-place finishes in district tournaments in nine years, Francis Howell coach Kevin Stroh and the Vikings wrestling team finally got to enjoy the euphoria of a district championship on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Vikings came from behind to defeat Holt and win the Class 4, District 2 championship at Francis Howell. Wright’s big night dooms Howell Central in Wickenheiser Cup preliminary round

After losing to Parkway South two days earlier in its first game of the Mid-States Club Hockey Association Wickenheiser Cup playoffs preliminary round, Westminster Christian Academy faced a win or go home C division matchup against Francis Howell Central. Thankfully, for the Wildcats, forward Levi Wright and goalie Samuel Haupfear were ready to answer the challenge. Whitfield uses big stops, clutch free throws to edge Duchesne in key small school clash

Amechi Ramsey had only two points for the Whitfield Warriors, but his two points ended up being the biggest of the night. Smith resigns as Francis Howell girls volleyball coach

Stacey Smith walked into Francis Howell athletic director Sean Erwin’s office on Monday and informed Erwin he was resigning as girls volleyball coach due to family obligations. “It was extremely difficult to make this decision and it wouldn’t matter where I was coaching or what level, it’s hard to leave that part behind since I’ve been coaching for the past 22 years, it becomes part of your identity,” Smith said. Trinity pulls away from fourth-seeded Duchesne for first MICDS Holiday Tournament championship

      Being the No. 6 seed has become a good luck charm for teams in the MICDS Holiday Invitational Tournament in recent seasons. Ladue won the tournament last year as a six seed.
