On a day when the Holt softball team was without senior captain and third baseman Madison Kettler due to an injury, the Indians junior class stepped up and helped out against Fort Zumwalt South. Francis Howell pulls away late for season opening win at Francis Howell Central

They had to wait an extra three days to get the season started but in the end it was all worth it. Francis Howell’s softball team had its first two games canceled earlier this week, but on Thursday, the Vikings got to hit the diamond for real. Suffice to say, they had some fun. Howell scored a run in the fifth inning, a run in the sixth inning, and then exploded for six runs in the seventh inning. That offensive outburst combined with senior standout Whitney Boschert’s pitching was just the right mix as the Vikings cruised to an ...

Fort Zumwalt North coach Joe Bacon would like to repeat last season – but with a different result in the final game. Fort Zumwalt North lost 49-14 to Vianney in the Class 5 state championship game. But that was then. Now, it’s time for the 2017 campaign.
