Smith resigns as Francis Howell girls volleyball coach

Stacey Smith walked into Francis Howell athletic director Sean Erwin’s office on Monday and informed Erwin he was resigning as girls volleyball coach due to family obligations. “It was extremely difficult to make this decision and it wouldn’t matter where I was coaching or what level, it’s hard to leave that part behind since I’ve been coaching for the past 22 years, it becomes part of your identity,” Smith said. Trinity pulls away from fourth-seeded Duchesne for first MICDS Holiday Tournament championship

      Being the No. 6 seed has become a good luck charm for teams in the MICDS Holiday Invitational Tournament in recent seasons. Ladue won the tournament last year as a six seed. The 6th seed proved to be good luck this time around for the Trinity Titans.     It was billed as a decided underdog in Francis Howell going against perennial power Hazelwood Central. After 44 crazy, gut-wrenching minutes of basketball, it will likely be remembered as a classic. Boys high school soccer It was a season of great success for both Wentzville Liberty and Fort Zumwalt South – one that drew major accolades as both the Eagles and Bulldogs received big recognition on the 2017 All-Gateway Athletic Conference Central soccer team. Liberty, which finished 21-7 with a Class 3, District 8 championship game appearance, landed 5 players on the squad.   So far in 2017, the Fort Zumwalt East Lions hockey club is a group that can score goals quick and in bunches. Monday at St. Peters Rec-Plex South, Francis Howell Central found out the hard way.
