Fort Zumwalt South boys tennis coach David Fox suspected at the outset of the season that his Bulldogs club would be pretty good once they got into regular season play. McAfee provides leadership and more for young Francis Howell Central spikers

A year ago, Connor McAfee was more of a supporting cast member for the 2017 Francis Howell Central boys volleyball club, that had nine seniors and pushed  the Spartans to a 25-8-1 mark and a Class 4 quarterfinal appearance. This spring the leadership mantle has fallen to McAfee and McAfee, the Spartans lone returning senior starter, has provided that and plenty more through the first five weeks of play. Smith resigns as Francis Howell girls volleyball coach

Stacey Smith walked into Francis Howell athletic director Sean Erwin’s office on Monday and informed Erwin he was resigning as girls volleyball coach due to family obligations. “It was extremely difficult to make this decision and it wouldn’t matter where I was coaching or what level, it’s hard to leave that part behind since I’ve been coaching for the past 22 years, it becomes part of your identity,” Smith said.
