Wright’s big night dooms Howell Central in Wickenheiser Cup preliminary round

After losing to Parkway South two days earlier in its first game of the Mid-States Club Hockey Association Wickenheiser Cup playoffs preliminary round, Westminster Christian Academy faced a win or go home C division matchup against Francis Howell Central. Thankfully, for the Wildcats, forward Levi Wright and goalie Samuel Haupfear were ready to answer the challenge.   So far in 2017, the Fort Zumwalt East Lions hockey club is a group that can score goals quick and in bunches. Monday at St. Peters Rec-Plex South, Francis Howell Central found out the hard way.  Holt senior forward Tyler Davis always has the green light to go get the puck and score when its loose and Davis knows just when to score. Westminster senior forward Connor Dolan is 6-foot-3 and many times he is the biggest player on the ice when the Wildcats are playing. Marquette Knocks off Francis Howell Central for Wickenheiser Cup Championship

    Marquette senior forward Zachary Schade could not have imagined a better ending to his high school hockey career. James Long scored a goal just 2 minutes, 24 seconds into sudden death overtime and lifted the John Burroughs Bombers to an amazing 5-4 comeback win over Francis Howell North in the Mid-States Hockey Founders Cup Championship game Friday night at Hardees Iceplex in Chesterfield.
