Weather, Pattonville doom Fort Zumwalt North in Class 5 semifinals

Fort Zumwalt North managed to control everything in their first 12 games as they won each week this fall. Saturday at Pattonville was out of their control nearly from the start. Despite scoring the first touchdown, the Panthers could not handle the windy, rainy/cold conditions, a physical Pattonville defense, and the Pirates run game powered by speedy, shifty senior running back David Elllison, Jr.. All of that left the Panthers one game short of their goal of returning to the Class 5 championship game, as Zumwalt North bowed to Pattonville 26-7 Saturday in a Class 5 semifinal at Pattonville High ...

Local high school coaches talk football

Fort Zumwalt North coach Joe Bacon would like to repeat last season – but with a different result in the final game. Eureka stops Fort Zumwalt West with late surge

The Eureka High Wildcats football team definitely seems to find a way to close out games late. On Friday night, the Wildcats took control of a nip-and-tuck clash with Fort Zumwalt West thanks to a pair of late touchdowns, prevailing for a 45-26 week one win at Fort Zumwalt West. “I think we came out a little slow and we were executing the right things but we didn’t have the energy,” Eureka junior quarterback Tyler Kennedy said. “We talked about it at halftime and we came out and exploded.” Zumwalt West gave the Wildcats gave Eureka all it wanted for ...
