Francis Howell senior wins Mike Rowe scholarship

Francis Howell High senior Jimmy Johnson received a $1,000 scholarship from the mikeroweWORKS Foundation to attend the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, the week of June 24-28. The scholarship will pay for travel and other trip expenses.

Local students explore genetics

Middle school participants in Francis Howell’s Biomedical Science Camp kicked off summer by examining viruses, bacteria, and outbreaks of different diseases. Students also explored how to potentially cure genetic diseases by looking at DNA and genes. The 2019 camp, hosted by Francis Howell High, offers middle school students experience with Project Lead the Way Biomedical Science courses offered in high school.

Local senior student excels in manufacturing

Francis Howell North senior Dominic Griffero may seem like a typical student. He spends mornings at Francis Howell North and his afternoons taking a manufacturing class at Lewis & Clark Career Center. However, after school, Griffero heads to his job at John J. Steuby Co., a manufacturing company located in Hazelwood. He was the first student in his precision machining manufacturing class placed in an after-school job.
