Law poses changes for school schedules, summer tourism in 2020

Formerly known as House Bill 161 [HB 161], the newly passed legislation states that the first day of classes for local school districts can be scheduled no earlier than 14 days before the first Monday in September. This means, for the 2020-2021 school year, traditional school districts would be barred from starting before Aug. 24.

Hansen Park granted new amenities

The city of Cottleville was recently awarded a grant to install restrooms, picnic tables, and a large pavilion at McAuley Playground. A contractor has been selected and construction is scheduled to begin this fall.

Kiwanis recognizes local member

The Kiwanis Club of O’Fallon recently recognized member Chuck Alphin from the Boys and Girls Club of St. Charles County as a part of its quarterly Community Recognition Program where Kiwanis members honor members who make a difference in the local area. Chuck was honored for his endeavors in bettering the lives of local children.
