Dardenne Prairie sets sights on annexing eight unincorporated islands inside city

Dardenne Prairie officials are moving ahead with more involuntary annexations of unincorporated islands of property adjacent or surrounded by city boundaries. The city’s Board of Aldermen approved placing eight parcels on the Nov. 7 ballot at a special board meeting on Aug. 22 after holding a public hearing on the proposed annexations. A majority vote by registered voters in the parcels being annexed and in the city attempting to annex the properties is required for the annexations to be approved. Portage Road to close between Rees and Weber Lake roads for about a week starting August 28

A portion of Portage Road between Rees Road and Weber Lake Road will be closed for about a week starting Monday, Aug. 28 for construction crews to replace a pipeline. Traffic will have to use a detour route around the closure while the pipeline is replaced.  Local traffic can access either side of the closure location, but no through traffic will be permitted.  Signs notifying motorists of the closure and necessary detours will be posted. Small fire damages two apartment units in a building along North Second Street in St. Charles

Two apartments were damaged in a fire Tuesday morning along North Second Street in St. Charles. The St. Charles Fire Department responded about 9 a.m. to a report by bystanders of light smoke coming from the roof of a building at 1220 North Second Street.  Responding fire crews found a small fire in an upstairs apartment. No residents were home at the time. The fire was under control by 9:25 a.m. and damage was limited to two apartments in the building. Closing of westbound I-70 lane in Wentzville this weekend expected to cause traffic delays on I-70, I-64 and Route 61

Expect some traffic congestion and delays along Interstate 70 in Wentzville this weekend. The closing of one westbound lane on Interstate 70 before it reaches Route Z in Wentzville may prompt traffic delays on I-70, on nearby I-64, and Route 61. The Missouri Department of Transportation [MoDOT] is expected to close the one lane at about 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25 so work crews can remove and repair a section of pavement.  MoDOT officials say long traffic delays are expected on westbound I-70 with only one westbound lane open for traffic.
