The St. Louis Business Journal is reporting that the Hoffmann Family of Companies has purchased 50 additional acres adjacent to the historic Knoernschild vineyards in Augusta, giving the company 100 acres on which to build a 60-room, luxury hotel.
The company previously acquired the Emmaus House campus in Marthasville, which had been considered for the hotel site. That property now appears to be destined as the future site of a smaller 18-room hotel.
The Hoffmann Family of Companies began its acquisition of properties in and around the viticulture area of Augusta in January 2021 and has since added Balducci Vineyards, Augusta Wine Company, Montelle Winery, Mount Pleasant Estates Winery, Knoernschild Vineyards and Washington Vines to its list. Also on that list are several old buildings in downtown Augusta that will be transformed into retail and dining destinations.
Additionally, the company has added transportation options that include horse-drawn carriages, trolleys, buses and boats as in a luxury yacht and a proposed riverboat.
With St. Charles County and the Augusta Heritage Foundation in favor of the company’s renovation and revitalization plans, the project has moved swiftly with noticeable change already taking place.
