The St. Charles County Council named new leaders at its Jan. 11 meeting.
Terry Hollander (District 5), council chairman for 2020, announced the leadership change, and in line with state and county rules on such matters, asked for nominations for a new council leader. Council member Nancy Schneider (District 6) nominated council member Mike Elam (District 3) for the position as chairman. That nomination was seconded by council member John White (District 7). With no other nominations, Elam’s candidacy was approved by voice vote, with council member Joe Cronin (District 1) voting in opposition.
The meeting then proceeded to a vote for the council’s vice-chair. Hollander nominated Schneider, with council member Dave Hammond (District 4) seconding the nomination. The council unanimously approved Schneider’s nomination by a voice vote.
The new leadership will serve one-year terms until January 2022.
