A now-closed pharmacy had been located at 2175 W. Terra Lane, the end unit of the existing Peruque Crossing Shopping Center. Los Compass, Inc. has requested a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) to operate a Mexican restaurant with a drive-through in that end unit. Business hours would be 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Adjacent land parcels include a railroad to the north, an undeveloped commercial out lot to the south, Peruque Crossing shopping center to the east, and commercial development to the west.
The Planning & Zoning Commission believes this would provide a convenient amenity that will benefit the area, and has recommended approval of the CUP with one condition: The drive-through order facility and other outdoor speakers will not produce any sound exceeding 60dB at a straight-line distance of 100 feet or greater.
Bill No. 7266 authorizing the CUP, sponsored by council members Debbie Cook and Katie Gatewood (both of Ward 5), was given a first reading at the Dec. 10 council meeting. If the normal process is followed, the second reading and vote for passage would be at the council meeting on Jan. 14.
