‘Tis the season for Holiday Happenings

The Treasure Chest Holiday Expo runs from 1-6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Saint Charles Convention Center, 1 Convention Center Plaza in Saint Charles. Over 200 booths filled with handmade crafts, art, gifts, food, décor and more and all the best in-demand product vendors are featured. Free admission and parking. Raffles and door prizes will be awarded through the weekend.

The city of St. Peters’ Virtual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony is from 7-7:30p.m. on Friday,  Nov. 20 at SPTVnow.net. The event includes a virtual tree lighting, an appearance by Santa, and musical performances by the Childbloom Guitar Program of St. Charles County, Lindenwood University’s Voices Only, the Fort Zumwalt East High Symphonic Orchestra, and Butch Wax & The Hollywoods. The 11th annual Tree of Lights Celebration, presented by the city of Dardenne Prairie and the Salvation Army, is at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20 at City Hall Park, 2032 Hanley Road. The evening includes musical entertainment by area schools, holiday crafts, refreshments and other activities. Santa will be available for pictures; participants must bring their own cameras. Letters to Santa runs from Monday, Nov. 23 until Monday, Dec. 7 at the Youth Activity Park, 7801 Town Square Ave. in Dardenne Prairie. Children ages 8 and younger are invited to write a letter and bring it to the park along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Celebration of Lights recurs weekly from 6-9 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; and 6-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from Friday, Nov. 27 through Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Fort Zumwalt Park, 1000 Jessup Lane in O’Fallon. A drive-thru holiday light display. Specialty rides (horse-drawn carriage, train, or sleigh) run Monday through Sunday (except Dec. 7, 8, and 25). Rides must be reserved in advance. Carriage rides last approximately 30 minutes. Cost is $65 for six passenger carriage, $145 for 12-passenger carriage. Children age 2 and under ride free if seated on a paying adult’s lap. An Old-Fashioned Holiday Stroll is from 6-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 and Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Fort Zumwalt Park, 1000 Jessup Lane in O’Fallon. This event is part of the Celebration of Lights event. Visitors can walk along the illuminated route, enjoy holiday music, visit with Santa, and watch a firework show. Holiday gifts and food will be on sale from O’Fallon-based nonprofit organizations. Fireworks begin at 7:25 p.m. Admission is $3 per person until Dec. 4; $5 per person day of event (cash only); ages 2 and younger are free. Parking with free shuttle service to the Holiday Stroll is at First Baptist Church of O’Fallon, 8750 Veterans Memorial Parkway; and O’Fallon Christian Church, 9380 Veterans Memorial Parkway. Strollers, wagons, walkers, and wheelchairs are welcome; no pets (except service dogs), motorized hoverboards, kids’ scooters, bikes, or skateboards allowed. Lot of Lights recurs daily from 5:30-10 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays; 5:30-11 p.m. Friday-Sunday and holidays from Friday, Nov. 27 to Saturday, Jan. 2 at the Family Arena, 2002 Arena Parkway in Saint Charles. A drive-through holiday light display with lasers, holograms, projection mapping, and holiday scenes created with lights. Drivers will be able to tune their car to a dedicated FM station that will air a curated holiday music playlist. Event will conclude with a holiday-themed laser and light show. A Holiday Pizza Party is from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Youth Activity Park, 7801 Town Square Ave. in Dardenne Prairie. A Candy Cane Hunt is 9-10 a.m. on Saturday Dec. 5 at the Krekel Civic Center, 305 Civic Park Drive in O’Fallon. There will be two time slots beginning at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. After all the treats have been found, guests visit with Santa to receive a goodie bag. The deadline to register is Nov. 28. A Christmas Tree Workshop is from 3:30-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the St. Charles County Heritage Museum, 1630 Heritage Landing in St. Peters. Learn about the different evergreen species and the history of the Christmas Tree. Park Ranger Jake Dean will teach participants how to identify different conifers while sitting around a campfire with hot beverages. Santa’s North Pole Dash & Children’s Snowman Shuffle begins at 7 a.m. onSaturday, Dec. 5 at Frontier Park, 500 S.Riverside Drive in Saint Charles. Santa’sNorth Pole Dash is a 5K run or 1-milewalk for all ages.
