The Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Santa’s North Pole Dash event on Dec. 5 in Historic Saint Charles. Unlike previous years, runners will be allowed to run or walk in the event in-person or virtually from home.

Race sign-ups are open by visiting gstccc.com/santa-dash. The theme for the 2020 event is “The Nutcracker” and racers are, like in previous years, free to dress in themed costumes on the day of the event.

Unlike previous years, the 2020 race’s start line will be from 7 a.m.-8:30 a.m., meaning anyone who arrives to the race in that window will be able to take off from the start line.

“That way people aren’t crowded in one start corral,” Wendy Rackovan, vice president of marketing and communications at the Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, said.

Volunteers are needed. Individuals can view open slots and availability by visiting gstccc.com/santa-dash to look through a current list of volunteer needs.

As a new precaution resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, race packets, shirts and medals will be shipped directly to each participant’s home free of charge. All individuals wanting their shirts or medals on race day should register before Nov. 10.

The Children’s Snowman Shuffle will also be held on the same day at 8 a.m. in Frontier Park, 500 S. Riverside Drive in Saint Charles.

This is the largest annual fundraiser by the Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce. Currently, over 800 registered. The goal is to have 1,700-plus attendees in 2020.
