On Oct. 26, the St. Charles County Council voted to approve a $1,432,497.78 bid submitted by NB West Contracting Co. for a construction endeavor at Missouri Route 364, which is known colloquially as the Heritage Crossing project. This project, which will involve building slip ramps between North and South St. Peters Parkway and Route 364, is expected to alleviate traffic congestion while simultaneously offering easier access to and from the highway for area motorists.
The project has been a special priority for county council member John White (District 7), who represents the project area. County Executive Ehlmann stated, jocularly, that the ramp should be called the “John White Ramp” due to the council member’s exertions in the matter. In fact, the county had lobbied the Missouri Department of Transportation for the project on numerous occasions, without success.
The project was approved with the federal government agreeing to pay for half of the project, and the county paying the remainder. The St. Charles County Highway Department will have overall management of the project.
The project will, barring unforeseen complications or bad weather, begin in February 2021, and is expected to be completed in October 2021.
