Gail Thompson receives DAISY Award

Gail Thompson, administrative director of nursing operations at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis, was recently presented with the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes nurses who have devoted their life’s work to the care of others. Recipients are nominated for their dedication to nursing through active mentoring, role modeling, advocating for their patients and promoting the positive image of nursing. To be considered for the award, nurses must meet certain criteria, including 25 years or more of service. SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis is a 216-bed hospital specializing in women’s health and maternity services.

Salt River Automotive recently opened at 5590 Salt River Road in St. Peters. The business is owned by Caleb and Julie Hunter and Nathan and Mandy Goff, who are also the owners of Extreme Electrical Contractors. Salt River Automotive provides oil changes, lube, filter changes, tires, diagnostics and brakes. They also work with both individual and fleet vehicles.

Streets of St. Charles, 1520 S. 5th Sreet, has added two new retail pop-ups for fall and holiday shopping. Arch Apparel opened Oct. 3rd on Beale Street next to U-Swirl, and is a local St. Louis-inspired streetwear brand. Pleated, which opened Oct. 1, carries unique and fashionable styles for women, as well as some clothing for children and giftable items.

Hi-NRG Gymnastix recently celebrated the opening of its brand-new O’Fallon location at 1676 State Hwy. K in O’Fallon. The 5,000-square-foot facility offers many competitive gymnastics programs for all ages. Other options include tumbling, parent-child classes, ninja obstacles, private lessons, birthday parties and more. The coaches at Hi-NRG focus on building confidence along with athleticism.

Five Star Painting celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 in front of the Economic Development Center of St. Charles County. Five Star Painting, operating out of St. Peters, services clients throughout the St. Louis region, including both commercial and residential customers. They also do interior and exterior paint jobs, touch up painting and full color changes, wallpaper removal, deck treatment and staining, brick painting and treatment, popcorn ceiling removal, garage floor sealing and more. The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce and Industries holds its membership luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Nov. 17 at Trigg Banquet Center, 300 O’Fallon Plaza in O’Fallon. The Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce hosts its 2020 Small Business of the Year Awards from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 18 at the St. Charles Convention Center, One Convention Center Plaza Drive. Awards will be announced for the 2020 Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year. The luncheon will be held in conjunction with the city of St. Charles Employer of the Year Awards. Cost is $35 for members; $40 for guests.
