Xtreme Baseball, LLC has proposed creating an indoor baseball training facility in the end unit of the existing Rustique Building at 1306 Rustique Square in O’Fallon, just north of the I-64 outer road.
The facility would include a lobby, office, batting cages and a performance and training area. Business hours would be from 3-9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
This is an existing business that would be moved from Chesterfield to O’Fallon. Currently, 300 families use the Chesterfield facility for softball and hardball training, including team and individual activity. The business owner said those 300 families are expected to use the new facility in O’Fallon once it is set up. The owner also intends to grow the business even more.
At the Sept. 10 O’Fallon City Council meeting, Bill No. 7228, sponsored by Ward 3 council members Dale Kling and Nathan Bibb, was given a public hearing and first reading. The bill would grant a conditional use permit to allow a commercial recreation facility in an area zoned C2/General Business District.
Planning and Zoning recommended approval of the rezoning with conditions, including requirements for licensing, adhering to license and conditional use permit rules, and avoidance of any peace disturbance.
If the normal process is followed, the vote for final passage of the bill would be at the Sept. 24 council meeting.
