Annual POW/MIA ceremony to be held Sept. 18

On Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m., O’Fallon’s annual POW/MIA Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held on behalf of the nearly 90,000 American troops from foreign wars who remain as prisoners of war or unaccounted for, and the families who are waiting for their return.

The ceremony will be held at O’Fallon Veterans Memorial Walk, 800 Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The ceremony is hosted by Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 458 and Am Vets Post 106, and includes posting of the colors, candle lighting, the laying of the wreath, a rifle salute and Taps.

Welcoming remarks will be delivered by O’Fallon Mayor Bill Hennessy. The keynote speaker will be Ben Kramer, an Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America (AVVA) member of VVA Chapter 458. Music will be provided by the St. Dominic School Band. Refreshments will be provided by Heaven Scent Bakery and AVVA members.
