On Aug. 13, the O’Fallon City Council unanimously approved Resolution 08-13-2020B to have Gershenson Construction Co., Inc. construct the West Elm Street Extension project for a cost not to exceed $790,299. Gershenson had submitted the lowest of four bids.
The project includes extending West Elm Street to existing pavement west of Main Street that was constructed as part of the O’Fallon Station development. In addition, the West Elm/Elm and Main Street intersection will be realigned, and new traffic signals and pedestrian facilities will be constructed.
The project is expected to start in early 2021 and be completed by summer 2021, weather permitting.
Funding of $745,850 for this project already was included in the city budget. A mid-year budget adjustment will be made for the remaining amount needed, utilizing available funds from the Hoff Rd project. The city will be reimbursed 80% of the construction cost via the St. Charles County Transportation Sales Tax.
