Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service is collecting donations for its School Supply Drive to be held from Aug. 10-13.
The annual event expects to provide 150 to 200 children in the tri-county area with a brand-new backpack fully-stocked with needed school supplies.
“The families that come to the Care Service for assistance are struggling to keep the lights on and make sure their families are fed. Purchasing school supplies is an added expense that is beyond their budget,” said Pam Struckhoff, executive director at Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service. “We wanted to ease this burden, and provide children with the tools necessary for a strong start to the school year.”
School supplies can be dropped off at the Care Service, located at 4116 McClay Road in St. Charles, until Aug. 3. Donations can be placed in the shopping carts located outside the main entrance from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Some of the most needed items include the following:
- Backpacks (especially designs and sizes for teens)
- Calculators (basic and scientific)
- Colored pencils
- Two pocket folders (with and without prongs)
- Wide ruled notebook paper
- Pencil bags
- Masks (for children and adults)
- Refillable water bottles
Donations also can be made online through our Amazon Back to School Wish List.
