St. Peters to continue inclusive recreation services

The Board of Aldermen approved two bills on June 25 that continue inclusive recreation services.

Bill No. 20-61 authorizes the city administrator to enter into a professional services contract with Tabri, LLC to provide inclusive recreation services for an amount not to exceed $70,166.57.

Bill No. 20-62 authorizes the city administrator to enter into a funding agreement with the Developmental Disabilities Resources Board of St. Charles County for an inclusion coordinator for recreation services, for an amount not to exceed $38, 131.

Passage of these bills enables the continuation of the St. Peters partnership with St. Charles and O’Fallon parks and recreation departments to share the services of an inclusion coordinator. Inclusion services at the St. Peters Rec-Plex and other St. Peters parks involve modified activities to include and accommodate children and adults of all abilities to participate side by side in recreation programs and changing staff to participant ratios.

A few examples of accessibility at the Rec-Plex include ramp-style steps in the 50-meter pool, a roll-on ice rink, a roll-in wading pool, an accessible snack area, a pool seat lift and an adjustable depth pool floor.

Both bills passed by a vote of 8-0.
