Duchesne High recently announced the return of 1977 alumnus Paul Boschert as the school’s new athletic director, effective July 1. Boschert takes over for Debi [Westhues] Turner, who served as athletic director for seven years before moving to the Dean of Student Services position upon the retirement of long-time dean Kurt Clodius.
When he first worked at Duchesne, Boschert coached the same sports he had lettered in as a Pioneer athlete: baseball, basketball, and football. The football teams he worked with as an assistant coach placed second in state in 1982 and made the state semifinals in 1983. Boschert also worked as an assistant baseball coach when the team placed second in state in 1983 and won state in 1984.
Boschert previously served as athletic director at St. Charles West High and, most recently, at Fort Zumwalt West High. He has been a member of the Missouri State High School Activities Association’s Sportsmanship Committee and Investigative Committee and has been St. Charles County’s Umpire-in-Chief since 1989.
Boschert received the basketball Sportsmanship Award six times and football Sportsmanship Award four times from the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials/Football Officials.
“I’m very excited to welcome Paul back to DHS,” Turner said. “I’ve worked with him a lot over the years and his programs have always been a class act. I’m happy and comfortable turning over the [reins] of the athletic director position to someone with such integrity and passion for high school sports.”
