A record plat has been proposed for the Watermark Apartments complex at 1147 Technology Drive in the southern part of O’Fallon. At the May 28 City Council meeting, Bill No. 7193 was given a first reading. Sponsored by Ward 3 council members Dale Kling and Nathan Bibb, the bill includes the record plat and site plan.
When recommending this bill, the Planning & Zoning Commission confirmed that the developer has paid $250,000 to the city for required improvements to the intersection at Weldon Spring Road and Crusher Drive, to handle the expected increase in traffic volume.
On Nov. 14, 2019, the council by a vote of 6-5 had approved proceeding with construction of the Watermark Apartment complex. Approval had included amendments to address actions required by the developer to alleviate growth-caused traffic problems on Crusher Drive, Weldon Springs Road and Technology Drive.
The plat and site plan for 19.112 currently undeveloped acres include a multi-family residential development with 316 dwelling units. Unused land [2.02 acres] remain zoned as C-2 PUD. The property fronts on Weldon Springs and Crusher roads, where there already are two existing apartment developments adjacent to this new development.
