BREAKING NEWS: Prospect League cancels season; Hoots remain committed to summer games

The O’Fallon Hoots announced May 29 that the Prospect League has canceled its 2020 season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and resulting government regulations across the five-state league. However, the O’Fallon-based baseball team is committed to playing games at CarShield Field this summer.

The team’s first game is currently scheduled for July 2.

“While we are certainly disappointed that the Prospect League has canceled for this summer, we are excited to have baseball at the ballpark in 2020,” Hoots General Manager David Schmoll said. “We have players in the area who have lost their college seasons and want to play as well as fans who want to see baseball. We are committed to providing that for both groups in a safe and responsible manner.”

The Hoots will host 30 games in O’Fallon in a season from July 2 through Aug. 14.

Players wishing to play for the Hoots should visit ofallonhoots.com/beahoot.

Tickets will go on sale at a later date. To sign up for the priority wait list, fans can visit ofallonhoots.com/single-game-tickets. Due to capacity limits, only a limited number of tickets will be available each night.

The team said a revised game and promotional schedule will be available soon. Fans who have already purchased tickets to a Hoots game will be contacted by a customer service representative once the new schedule is released.
