With O’Fallon’s annual senior utility tax rebate scheduled to start on April 15, the city recently announced new procedures that will be in place for the 2020 rebate period only due to COVID-19.
Any senior who received the rebate in 2019 will receive a letter from the city asking the individual to confirm that they still live in the city of O’Fallon. Once the city receives the confirmation of residency, the individual will be mailed a rebate check equal to their 2019 senior utility tax rebate.
This year only, the city will not be accepting new applicants for 2020. Any new applicants who have either moved to O’Fallon during 2019 or aged into eligibility will be able to apply for a 2-year rebate during 2021 provided they meet the eligibility requirements for both 2020 and 2021. When applying in 2021, new applicants will need to bring their tax returns and utility bills (gas, electric and telephone) for both 2019 and 2020.
