Looking for the “best biscuits and gravy ever” or any number of breakfasts or lunches that will haunt your dreams? Meet at Nina’s Breakfast & Brunch in O’Fallon between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday or 7 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday.
“‘Let’s meet at Nina’s’ that’s what I wanted people to say when I opened last January,” explains Teri Downey. Her website is letsmeetatninas.com. “And in the past year, that’s exactly what has happened.
“We’re hosting bridal and baby showers, business breakfasts and lunches, meetings of community groups, and of course, plenty of people who just want a really good breakfast or lunch.”
Teri and her staff, including server Peggy Plont, know many of those people by name and food preferences.
“Decaf!” Teri calls out to Peggy. “Here comes Carl and Alvey.”
She knows Alvey will want a cup of her Salato House Blend coffee, which is roasted in Kirkwood and packaged for resale at Nina’s.
“Customers love it,” says Teri. And if customers love it, Teri is determined they should have it.
“My favorite part of Nina’s is our customers,” says Peggy. “I love when they share their stories with us – maybe they do because the restaurant is so friendly and cozy.”
Teri’s best-selling item remains the Nina’s Breakfast Platter, built around a scratch-made, buttermilk biscuit topped with eight ounces of sausage gravy, crumbled bacon and cheddar cheese alongside two eggs prepared any way the customer chooses. But she boasts that her new Breakfast Volcano is pretty spectacular as are her handcrafted pastries, lunch and breakfast tacos, and cocktails, including an “awesome Bloody Mary.”
Celebrating its one-year anniversary, Nina’s will offer Biscuit & Gravy, Mimosas and Bloody Mary specials in February – and, on Feb. 14, a four-course Valentine’s Day dinner with three seating times: 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. “By reservation only before Feb. 10,” Teri says. “So there’s no stress.”
