A growing dedication to local families

Owners John and Mark Hutchens

Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center in St. Charles County is locally owned and operated by the Hutchens family, who, since 1955, has served their community with professional, personal funeral and cremation services.

Now, in 2020, the Hutchens are expanding their facility to further accommodate the needs of local families. Hutchens-Stygar is breaking ground this February on a new, nearly 9,000-square-foot addition that will feature a community room space for luncheons, catering services during visitations, and Celebration of Life services. The space will feature windows, airy ceilings, luxury vinyl flooring, and state-of-the-art video and projection, among other features. It will also feature a bar to serve alcohol, which is a first among similar institutions and part of Hutchens-Stygar’s goal to provide more in-demand amenities.

The addition will also feature a new, large chapel for more formal, traditional services.

“The reason for the addition is two-fold”, funeral director and owner Mark Hutchens said. “We are expanding to better serve local families, and we’re listening to their needs and wants in offering them more options to memorialize and celebrate their loved ones.”

The space will also allow Hutchens-Stygar to further accommodate families with scheduling, as the additional space will make it possible to cater to more families each day of the week.

The addition doesn’t mean a loss of personalized care. In fact, Mark and his father, John Hutchens, will remain present every day and continue to meet with families personally, ensuring that each family receives the utmost care and attention in difficult times.

“I think people notice a drastic difference in the quality of service and attention to detail when the decision-makers are right there in the building with them every day.”

The addition is expected to be completed in late 2020. To learn more, call Hutchens-Stygar today.
