Three St. Charles County hospitals received grades of “B” or above for inpatient safety in the Fall 2019 ratings recently released by independent ratings organization The Leapfrog Group. Progress West Hospital received a top “A” grade, while Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis earned grades of “B.” The ratings are based on 28 total measures of medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections reported during the ratings period.
Leapfrog assigns “A” to “F” letter grades on a semiannual basis to more than 2,600 general acute-care hospitals in the United States. Since 2012, the national nonprofit has worked to improve healthcare quality and safety for consumers and purchasers through its public ratings system.
