On Oct. 16, Team Home Depot installed six new flag poles at the St. Charles County Veterans Museum honoring the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and the Merchant Marine.
“Museum founder Ralph Barrale Sr. hoped to have flags of each service branch in front of the museum,” said Museum Board Member Jim Higgins. “It was very important to include the Merchant Marine, which suffered casualties before the war officially began for the U.S. with the attack on Pearl Harbor.”
Home Depot Store #3009 in Cave Springs also installed mulch, rock, flower beds and stone.
“Frankly, without Home Depot and other businesses in the community, Ralph’s dream may never have come true,” Higgins confirmed.
Store manager Libby Stevenson, and several associates completed the work.
The museum is located at 410 East Elm St. in O’Fallon. Its hours are Thursday and Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information on the Museum, call (636) 294-2657.
