Street maintenance, pedestrian access improvements approved

By: John Tremmel

The city of Dardenne Prairie has discussed and approved projects for street pavement maintenance [expansion joints] in the Villages at Dardenne McCluer Village subdivision. Also approved were multiple pedestrian access improvements to comply with the current Americans With Disabilities Act standards. A total of 23 accessible ramps in 13 locations in the Dardenne Landing, Whispering Pines and Campbell Village subdivisions are slated to be replaced.

City staff previously requested sealed bid proposals and received two. The low bid of $98,277 was from AMCON Municipal Concrete, LLC. The current budget for the project is $130,000. The project was bid using estimated quantities for street maintenance work; however, the final cost for the work will be based on accepted bid unit prices and actual field measurements of work completed.

City staff recommended a bill accepting AMCON’s proposal and authorizing the mayor to negotiate and execute a contract for the project. At the Board of Aldermen meeting on Oct. 2, the bill was passed 6 to 0.
