Dardenne Prairie has approved a 2019 property tax rate of $0.1025 per $100 assessed valuation. The new rate is a reduction of about 2.8% from the 2018 rate of $0.1054.
At its Sept. 18 meeting, the Board of Aldermen passed Bill No. 19-34 to establish the new rate for 2019. The vote for the bill was 5-0, with Alderman Dan Koch [Ward 3] excused.
The 2019 rate will be assessed on property valued at a total of $311,443,874. The breakdown includes residential real estate [$247,241,737], commercial real estate [$21,281,280], agricultural real estate [$94,848], personal property [$42,624,484] and railroad and other utilities [$201,52].
Missouri statutes require cities to levy the property tax annually prior to Oct. 1. Prior to approving the levy, each city is required to hold a public hearing with notice posted seven days in advance. Property tax rates also are subject to certification by the Missouri State Auditor’s office.
