Turtle Creek high density rental plan withdrawn

By: John Tremmel

Missouri National Golf Links LP has withdrawn its rezoning application and plan to construct 182 high density rental units on 23.28 acres, where a golf practice facility is operated today.

About 100 concerned homeowners had packed the July 18 O’Fallon Planning & Zoning [P&Z] Commission meeting and voiced objections to the application;  about 50 attended the July 25 meeting with the same intent.  However, per the applicant’s request the public hearing and first reading for Bill No. 7111 was tabled at the July 25 meeting, and rescheduled for the Aug. 22 City Council meeting.

During ward reports at the Aug. 8 council meeting, council member Debbie Cook [Ward 5] confirmed the applicant’s withdrawal of the proposed project tentatively named “Fairways at Turtle Creek” and said there is “no need for concerned homeowners to attend and pack the chamber on Aug. 22.”

If Missouri National decides to file a new application and plan for the property, it will need to start with O’Fallon P&Z again.  The next scheduled P&Z meetings are at 7 p.m. on Sept. 5 and Oct. 3.
