At the July 25 O’Fallon City Council meeting, City Administrator Mike Snowden introduced the newest member of the O’Fallon Police Department family: K-9 Vegas. His handler is Officer Matt Vegovisch.

Snowden explained that K-9 Vegas is a 6-month-old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix from Belarus. Vegas trained in Michigan for two months, including skills for narcotics detection, criminal apprehension and article searches. Vegas and Vegovisch are the fourth K-9 team in the department.

After the introduction, the mayor and a few council members were invited to greet Vegas. They did so, gingerly, although Vegas was very friendly and well-behaved.
