St. Jude, Payne Family Homes team up for annual Dream Home Giveaway

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has teamed up with Payne Family Homes to give away a spectacular dream home to one lucky winner – and in the process raise funds for children and families fighting cancer.

This year’s St. Jude Dream Home is located in the Villages at Sandfort Farm subdivision in St. Charles. The 4,718-square-foot, three bedroom home boasts a host of unique features, including hidden doorways that lead to a lavish speakeasy, a lower level Irish Pub and an indoor hockey rink.

The Villages at Sandfort Farm is a new community that opened in January 2019 and offers all the amenities of carefree living, such as lawn, landscape, irrigation and snow removal provided by the homeowners association. The Dream Home backs up to the community’s large pool and pool house. The subdivision is easily accessible to Hwy. 70 from Zumbehl and Cave Springs roads.

In total, the annual St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway has raised over $400 million for the research hospital and given away more than 425 homes.

“St. Jude is helping the world understand, treat and defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Families will never receive a bill from St. Jude, because all a family should worry about is helping their child live,” Allison Newton, marketing director of ALSAC/St. Jude, explained. “This will be the 10th year that the St. Jude Dream Home is in St. Louis. Every dollar raised will directly benefit the children of St. Jude.”

For the past six years, Payne Family Homes has been the builder for the St. Jude Dream Home.

“Payne is very happy to be a part of it, but there’s no way we can do this ourselves,” Dawn Walter, director of marketing at Payne Family Homes said. “Our trade partners generously work evenings, holidays and weekends. They are very committed and passionate about supporting St. Jude. Working together to help the kids is something we all take a lot of pride in.”

Literally hundreds of trade partners have helped in the effort, dedicating skilled labor and thousands of dollars in materials. Custom made fixtures and appliances also have been donated.

Mark Walker, district sales manager of Bosch Home Appliances, said the appliance manufacturer “is honored to partner with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the Dream Home Giveaway and provide high-quality appliances to complete the Dream Homes nationwide. Bosch and St. Jude share a strong commitment to improving lives and we’re very passionate about our partnership with them.”

Ashley HomeStore and Stash Home staged the Dream Home with furniture and accessories that are available for purchase should the winner want to keep, or visitors want to recreate, its look.

Open house weekends for the St. Jude Dream Home, 1046 Sandfort Farm Drive in St. Charles,  take place through Aug. 18. Saturday tours are from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday tours are from noon-5 p.m., with extended tour hours during the week of the giveaway, Aug. 19-22. In conjunction with the home tours, everyone will be eligible to enter a drawing for a $10,000 shopping spree prize at either Ashley HomeStore or Stash Home.

Raffle tickets for a chance to win the Dream Home are $100 each and can be purchased online at dreamhome.org or by calling (800) 667-3394. As an added bonus, anyone who purchases a ticket by July 26 will be eligible to win a hot tub from Prestige Pools & Spas. The hot tub is currently displayed at the St. Jude Dream Home. Tickets are limited.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, raffle tickets are not tax-deductible and taxes on prizes valued at $5,000 or more must be paid upon acceptance and before St. Jude can deliver the prize to the winner, who will be selected live at the Dream Home on Aug. 22. The event will be covered by Fox 2 News. Winners of the home or of the secondary prizes, need not be present to win.
