Timberland High senior Collin Rooney has been named the recipient of a Chick Evans Scholarship for Caddies from The Western Golf Association. The Evans Scholarship is a full, four-year, tuition and housing scholarship for golf caddies and is awarded based on a strong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character. Rooney is one of 260 Evans Scholars nationwide to begin college education this fall and graduating with a 3.9 GPA and completing the school’s A+ Program.
Rooney has caddied at Lake Forest Country Club for the past three years and plans to continue doing so.
“Receiving this scholarship puts my mind at ease and gives me the greatest honor that I could have going to college,” Rooney said.
He will attend the University of Missouri and intends to major in health sciences and pursue a career as a neurosurgeon. On campus, Evans Scholars live together in a Scholarship House owned by the Evans Scholars Foundation.
