Surely you’ve heard of car shows, antiques shows, trade shows – but have you ever heard of a pen show? Yes, you read that right. A show entirely dedicated to ink writing instruments.
For those who don’t know much about the pen industry, it goes far beyond the dollar ballpoints at your local office supply store. For luxury pen makers, their products are works of art, each with their own intricacies that resemble unique pieces of jewelry – some carrying price tags reading hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The second annual St. Louis Pen Show comes to the Westport Sheraton Hotel June 21-23 and promises something for everyone – from adults to kids.
There are classes, such as Introduction to Calligraphy and Illumination and Sketching with Pens and Ink, even a class on Pens for Kids. There also will be an auction at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 21 where pen enthusiasts can bid on vintage and modern writing instruments from the gently used to the highly collectible.
All weekend long, kids can participate in the popular Pen Collectors of America [PCA] scavenger hunt and earn a free fountain pen by visiting with vendors and locating various pen-related items.
