Maddison [Maddi] McGuire of St. Peters has received a Girl Scout Gold Award in her tenth year as a scout. The award is the most prestigious award one can receive in Girl Scouts and is received by 7% of Girl Scouts. The Gold Award is presented to girls in grades 9-12 who have planned and executed take action projects based on community needs.

McGuire’s project was assisting Lewis and Clark Elementary Drama Club’s “Lights, Camera, Act” by recruiting volunteers to assist with try-outs, practicing lines, the final show and other jobs throughout the year. McGuire also implemented acting workshops. The project took over a year and the final show was completed in April.

McGuire will be honored with her Gold Award at a Girl Scout ceremony on June 9. McGuire is a sophomore at Fort Zumwalt East High and a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
