Registration officially opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 1 for O’Fallon’s popular Safety Town for kids ages 4 ½ through 6 ½. Parents and legal guardians can register children either in-person at the Renaud Center, 2650 Tri Sports Parkway, or online at ofallon.mo.us/PD/ofallon-safety-town.
Safety Town is a nationally-accredited program designed to teach children how to play safe and stay safe. The course will be taught at Progress South Elementary by O’Fallon police officers, a certified teacher, paramedics, firefighters, railroad police and trained volunteers. The program uses a simulated city layout, a classroom facility and an off-campus field trip to provide kids with “real life” events and teach kids to evaluate “safe” from “unsafe” situations, and how to react safely. Space is limited and early enrollment is encouraged. Only parents and legal guardians can enroll children.
The two-week session cost is $60 per child, and each additional child from the same family is $40. Fees must be paid in full when children are enrolled. Sessions take place June 3-14, June 17-28 and July 8-19 with morning [9-11:30 a.m.] and afternoon [12:30-3 p.m.] time slots available for
