Holocaust writing contest seeks entries

The Holocaust Museum Learning Center [HMLC] is seeking entries from creative middle and high school students for the 2019 Art and Writing Contest. The 16th annual competition has been held in dedication to the memory of the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust and in honor of the grandchildren of sponsors Dr. Ira and Judith Gall.

For the writing contest, students may write a poem, newspaper article, story, play/dialogue or essay that expresses inspiring lessons or the difficulties of the Holocaust. Entries will be judged on content, originality, quality of expression and accuracy. For the art contest, students may create a sculpture, drawing, photograph, painting, poster, collage or five-minute video or DVD.

The work will be judged on creativity, excellence and content.

Official rules, submission details, and additional information are listed on the entry form, which can be picked up at 12 Millstone Campus Drive or downloaded at HMLC.org/ArtandWriting. Entries must be received in the office no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 18. For additional information, contact Dan Reich at DReich@JFedSTL.org or (314) 442-3714. Winning entries in each division will be awarded cash prizes and will be displayed at the museum.
