Letter to the Editor: Public relations over policy

To the Editor:

The press has a distorted view of Trump’s closing down the federal government. Government’s  main purpose is to serve and protect the people – not to meet government payrolls on time.

The media obsession with the latter obstructs reporting on the former.

At 85, I cannot ever remember so many hours of every day wasted by all segments of the press, left and right [there doesn’t seem to be a center anymore], so captivated by the antics of a show-biz presidency. It’s public relations over policy, and I’m sick of it.

I urge Trump to ask Vice President Pence to immediately join him in signing a mutual letter of resignation, then step aside to let the new president, Nancy Pelosi, straighten things out.
