New tenant at Premier 370 Business Park to build things rather than just store or distribute them

Premier 370 Business Park has a new tenant to add to a growing roster of companies now located at the 850-acre located along Route 370.

Unlike the others, its a company does more than just store and distribute products. It builds them.

The city’s Board of Aldermen approved the issuance $3.4 million in revenue bonds on Jan. 24 to Central States Manufacturing, Inc. of Arkansas that will fund a 53.6-square-foot manufacturing facility at 9001 Premier Parkway in the business park.

The site is on 12.4 acres at 9001 Premier Parkway. Construction is expected to begin in the summer or fall 2019 and take seven to nine months to complete.

The facility joins a growing list of tenants at the park that includes Amazon, which is building a new 855,080-square-foot fulfillment center that is expected to be completed this year. The center is expected to generate 1,500 jobs initially.

City officials say that Premier 370 Business Park is expected to draw not only warehouse and distribution facilities but some manufacturing. Central States offers a wide range of metal building products.

The Central States facility is expected to generate 54 jobs initially and increase to 76 jobs when the plant is in full operation. The average wage is anticipated to be $48,900 annually.

Others with facilities at Premier 370 Business Park include Saia LTL Freight, a standalone terminal on 26 acres. FedEx is building a 491,252-square-foot distribution facility on the south side of Premier Parkway east of Spencer Road. Grove Collaborative, which is opening 137,000-square-foot fulfillment center at 1000 Premier Parkway that will create 210 new jobs.

Dayton Freight, a trucking company, operates a 51,000-square-foot distribution center that opened in 2011. The center, at the corner of Premier Parkway and Executive Centre Parkway, includes offices, a warehouse with 60 truck docks and a maintenance building.

Other companies with facilities at the business park include Best Buy and RB [Reckitt Benckiser]. Best Buy has built a 252,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center. RB, a leader in the manufacture of home, hygiene and health products, occupies 715,000-square-foot project and leases a separate 300,000-square-foot building at 1000 Premier Parkway. RB created 500 new jobs and retained its original St. Peters location at Arrowhead Industrial Park.
