Student in custody after contacting Liberty High School students

By: Brian Flinchpaugh

O’Fallon police took a juvenile into custody on  Dec. 12 after telephone calls from parents of children from Liberty High School at 2275 Sommers Road in O’Fallon reporting that their children on late Dec. 11 had received threatening images and statements via ShapChat.

Children began receiving calls about 10:30 p.m. Officers began an investigation and quickly identified the juvenile subject. Contact was made with the subject at his residence and the subject was soon taken into custody. Evidence was seized from the residence. The investigation is ongoing.

Wentzville School District officials are aware of and participating in the investigation. At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident involving only this juvenile subject.

The juveniles’ parents are actively assisting our agency and the St. Charles County Juvenile Justice Center with the investigation.
