O’Fallon’s tree-lighting ceremony is set for 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, in O’Fallon’s Municipal Centre, 100 North Main St.
The Winfield Chamber Singers kick things off at 6 p.m.; followed by Mayor Bill Hennessy welcoming guests at 6:15 p.m. and launching the counting down to the lighting of the Great Tree. If the countdown is successful, Santa will appear at City Hall and be available for visits and photos from 6:30-8 p.m.
The evening’s activities include shopping at vendors’ booths for holiday gifts and decorations, free rides on the City Train [weather permitting], games, holiday crafts, music by the Forest Park Elementary School Recorder Band and a performance by O’Fallon’s Civic Dance troupe.
In the spirit of the season, everyone is encouraged to bring their choice of items to donate to those in need. New winter hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and socks of all sizes are needed for decorating the Giving Tree in the lobby. These items will be donated to the Salvation Army.
Donations of non-perishable canned or boxed food and personal care items will be distributed to local food pantries through O’Fallon’s Cornucopia of Care food drive
