To the Editor:
In response to Lucinda Towell’s letter about global warming [“Job Well Done,” Mid Rivers Newsmagazine, Oct. 24], yes, there is something individuals can do.
Carbon appears naturally in the soil. If we plant trees or grasses or ground covers, such as clover or ivy, we prevent carbon from escaping into the atmosphere.
Arbor Day and the British Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy Project are just two of the organizations encouraging more plantings. Most of us can do something, even in a small way, to take part in this project.
So, do not despair. Just plant something or encourage more plantings in parks and open spaces.
