The St. Peters chapter of Kiwanis International recently announced the awardees of its 2018 academic scholarship program. Eight seniors from area high schools each received a scholarship in the amount of $3,000.
The St. Peters Kiwanis Scholarship program, which has been awarding scholarships to area students since the early 1980s, is funded through the club’s fundraising activities and supports Kiwanis International’s goal of “serving children worldwide.”
“The candidates selected were among about three dozen applications we received this year,” said Dr. Rick Spraul, chairperson of the scholarship committee. “In selecting our awardees, we look at a number of factors including academic standing, in-school activities, community involvement and financial need. All the candidates this year were exceptional, which made our final decisions even more difficult than in the past.”
The 2018 St. Peters Kiwanis awardees are: Katherine Arnold, Francis Howell North; Cameron Zalmanoff, Francis Howell Central; Alexis Wallner, Francis Howell; Hannah Ballard, Lutheran High; Brynne Sandfort, Lutheran High; Pamnate Wongsirisakul, Fort Zumwalt East; Jacob Kramer, Fort Zumwalt North; and Brooke Turner, Ft. Zumwalt South.
