O’Fallon’s Heritage & Freedom Fest has extended the application deadline for the 2018 parade until Wednesday, May 30, unless space fills beforehand.
The parade will start off at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4, in downtown O’Fallon. Its theme is “America through the Ages.”All entries are required to be decorated and prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Cash awards of $200 for first place and $100 for second place will be given for the “Best Musical Float” and the “Most Patriotic Float.” In the “Best Overall” category, first-, second- and third-place winners will receive prizes of $500, $400 and $300, respectively. Mayor Bill Hennessy will present the “Mayor’s Choice Award,” a plaque and a magnetic placard to display throughout the parade. First- and second-place plaques will be presented for the “Best Color Guard.”
Parade applications, FAQs, requirements, resources and tips for designing an entry are posted on O’Fallon’s festival website at www.heritageandfreedomfest.com/parade. Applications also can be picked up at City Hall [100 North Main Street], the Renaud Spirit Center [2650 Tri Sports Circle], and the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office [400 Civic Park Drive].
