Alligator’s Creek renovations ready to make a splash in O’Fallon

By: Jessica Meszaros

Residents will be able to run, swim or float on over to O’Fallon’s newly expanded Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center – just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Renovations have neared completion and opening day is scheduled for May 26. The aquatic center is located in Civic Park off of N. Main Street.

The renovations to the outdoor recreation area were part of the comprehensive Renew O’Fallon initiative set in place in 2017.

The new Alligator’s Creek complex has been expanded to twice its original size with new features and amenities like a modern bathhouse, an elongated lazy river path with a zero-depth beach entrance, a concession stand, a brand-new splash pad for kids of all abilities, a floating bridge and a new pool with a waterway that connects a larger pool that also includes a newly-installed interactive water playground.

New to 2018, the pool will open an hour earlier at 11 a.m. each day.

The complex still offers three different styles of water slides, a one-meter spring diving board, whirlpool or vortex for users of all ages and a swimming pool with lap lanes. Daily admission and season pass options also are available. Other events include special promotional days, with the first being Honor Roll Day on June 10. Kids from kindergarten to high school can bring in a report card to swim for free if their cumulative grade point average is 3.0 or higher.

The facility will be open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. For information on admission or hours of operations, visit ofallon.mo.us/parks&rec
