Country Music Night takes place from 4–11 p.m. on July 3 with “The Voice” season 11 contestant Tarra Layne and singer/songwriter Jerrod Niemann scheduled to perform.
On July 4, it’s all Rock ‘n Roll from noon-10 p.m. with featured performances by Portrait – The Music of Kansas, an all-original band member performance by St. Louis-based ‘90s rock band Stir and, in the evening, Grammy-nominated grunge and hard rock band, Daughtry.
Admission to the festival grounds at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex, 890 T.R. Hughes Blvd., is free.
Free parking also is available with free shuttle service provided on July 3-4.
Clubs, civic organizations, businesses, churches, school groups and Scout troops are being sought to participate in the Heritage & Freedom Festival parade.
The parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4 in downtown O’Fallon.
All entries are required to be decorated and prizes will be awarded to the winners. Judges will consider how well each entry adheres to the 2018 theme of “America Through the Ages” and will award extra points for music and mechanical movement.
Mayor Bill Hennessy will present the Mayor’s Choice Award, a plaque and a magnetic placard to display throughout the parade. First- and second-place plaques will be presented for the Best Color Guard. Cash awards of $200 for first place and $100 for second place will be given for the Best Musical Float and the Most Patriotic Float. In the Best Overall category, first-, second- and third-place winners will receive prizes of $500, $400 and $300, respectively.
